Based on a model of care known as continuous care retirement communities or CCRCs, Uniting Aged Care’s Kingsville project embraces the way of the future; integrating apartments and broader community services into one facility. The original 30-year old building is demolished and replaced by a community comprising 68 residential aged care beds and 49 apartments.
The facility is designed to empower residents, with the more independent able to access the site from the residential area, through a separate entrance. There is a clear focus on independence and lifestyle with community care services a key feature of the development. As more care is needed, low-care residents will have the flexibility of being able to stay in their apartments while receiving additional care from the adjacent Residential Aged Care complex.
The design provides the site’s aged care/community services clients with a separate entrance to the Amarco Apartments residents. This gives a distinct branding for the retirement living apartments on the site and enables them to operate separately with their own common facilities including restaurant style dining, a lounge, bar and recreation rooms.
