Chapel Hill is the fourth of five Residential Aged Care Facilities to be constructed for the Salvation Army within their rebuilding and expansion program. This project sees 126 new Care beds created on a Salvation Army site that has had a long history in various forms of residential care in the Western suburbs of Brisbane. This building has four storeys of care over a car park and service basement level.
The dementia specific care areas are on the ground floor and have a direct relationship to the landscaped secure garden. The other ageing in place beds have access to significant outdoor balcony areas with a predominant north easterly aspect. A deliberate decision was made to consolidate the foot print of this building to benefit from the efficiencies of vertical servicing as well as to maximize the potential of the balance land for future programs. The site is a large parcel of land with a leafy perimeter and is well located in amongst established suburbs.
It is the largest project undertaken with respect to capital expenditure in the history of the Salvation Army Eastern Division and will set the benchmark for their standard of aged care in this area for years to come.
