The client required a building appropriate to a country town streetscape, but without relying on historical pastiche or imitation. The result combines positive public space with contemporary architecture. The building combines an art gallery and commercial space. The building is a space to display the attractions of the region, a link in a civic streetscape, and a positive example of integrating “green” ideas into a simple program.
