Atop a cliff overlooking Mt Victoria in the distance, a tired room slung below a 5 star resort hotel has been transformed into a stately venue filled with the aroma of 12 year old whisky and the sounds of chivalrous debate.
The combination of natural elements and a neutral palette have formed a timeless atmosphere that mixes gentlemanly charm and sophistication with the clean lines of contemporary design.
Many challenges were overcome in this 85m² space to meet the client brief which included removing a whole section of external wall overhanging the cliff face and angling it out to catch the perfect view and provide privacy at the same time. Height was very restrictive with a ceiling ranging from only 2m-2.3m above the floor and no opportunity to extend upwards. The clever positioning of the bar and removing a section of the floor for the sunken lounge not only addressed the height constraints but provided a variation in scale contributing to the changing effervescent guests experience whilst traversing through the space.
