This new facility is located centrally on the campus which occupies a magnificent elevated site in Rockhampton.
The new four storey building has been integrated into the existing site topography, and façade treatments have been selected to lessen the height impact of this size structure in a sensitive location. Building orientation and sun shading hoods minimize solar heat gain and improve overall energy efficiency.
Facilities include a 100 seat lecture theatre and associated multi use drama stage. Design and Technology areas are also provided for metalwork, woodwork, and computer aided design and manufacturing. There are also three Year 7 primary school classrooms and activities deck, music facilities including two large classrooms, six sound insulated practice rooms, a large band practice area and Administration and reception areas for senior school staff including the Headmaster.
Surrounds and approaches have been designed to provide a scaled transition between the new and old facilities, with integration of gardens and pathways to complement and assist existing pedestrian traffic flows.
