Wesley Hospital

This 538 bed facility is one of Queensland’s largest private hospitals, experiencing a three-fold increase in size over 20 years.

ThomsonAdsett provided architectural services for the redevelopment and refurbishment of The Wesley over a period of twenty years, during which time it has experienced a three-fold increase in size. This demonstrates our sub-specialty in the modification of acute hospital facilities while they are still operational.

Major projects have included the seven storey Moorlands Wing ($25 million) linked to different parts of the existing hospital at four levels, and the four storey Western Annexe ($11 million). Facilities include a coronary care unit, day surgery, radiology, breast clinic complex, emergency department, paediatric unit, psychiatric unit, theatre complex, intensive care and administration facilities.

An overarching goal to provide a less institutional environment for patients and staff has been achieved by developing designs in close collaboration with the client team. ThomsonAdsett has received the Australian Private Hospitals Association Award of Excellence for its contribution to the Wesley Hospital.
